Finding the Tractor Dealer for You

If you’re ready to buy that new tractor, be it a lawn tractor or farm model, the best place to buy a new one is from a tractor dealer. You can buy though the classifieds when you’re buying used, but you should stick to certified dealers when buying new.

It is even best to stay away from the gray market when looking for a tractor dealer. A gray market tractor is one made outside of the United States but that is claimed to be identical to models made in the US. They often cost less, but have a lower resale value. Because they are not made in the United States replacement parts are harder to find and they are more expensive for that reason. As well, many farmers feel that they are not built as safe as the American ones. They usually don’t have rollover protection.

When choosing which tractor dealer to buy from, there are a few factors that need to be considered. One is location. Although you hope there won’t be problems with the new tractor you’re about to purchase, if the dealer is close that will make it easier for you should there be any troubles. You don’t want to have to tow your new tractor for miles until you get to your tractor dealer to make a necessary repair.

Another consideration is brand name. If you’re buying a replacement tractor you may want the same brand as you’re had before. You were satisfied with that type and are getting a bigger model, or a second model and want to purchase from the same dealer. Or perhaps it’s the opposite. You have decided to finally get rid of the tractor you have because you have not been pleased with it and prefer to try another manufacture.

Whether it’s the yellow and green, orange, blue, red or green there is a lot of investigating you’ll need to do before you decide on which tractor dealer to buy from.
